Jazz in Duketown

Show with the musical trio Rogerio Bicudo, Michael Moore and Eric Calmes that share a great passion for Brazilian music, more specifically the 'choro' a virtuoso instrumental genre from Rio de janeiro with a high content of improvisation.

Lilian Vieira, who is best known as the vocalist of the popular Zuco 103 and works with Rogério Bicudo as a duo, will also join them in the Jazz in Duketown Festival.

Hilton Barcelos, composer, Brazilian poet, interpreter, reveals himself as an instigator musician and modern arranger. He focuses in the social, spiritual and human passions through his lyrics and the aesthetic musical comedy. The intuition leads his workmanship. His influences go from Soul Music to Progressive Rock, Oriental rhythms, Bossa Nova, Jazz and Brazilian Popular Music. With great versatility, Hilton works with art integration, without fads. Although not labeling his music, he walks throughout the regional, national and universal influences.

Rogério Bicudo brings the listener a look into the contemporary Brazilian popular music.
ROGÉRIO BICUDO (1957) guitarist, singer and composer, started his musical carrier very young. At the age of six he started to play the guitar, becoming professional at the age of twelve playing mainly Brazilian popular music. His passion for the instrument only increased leading to the study at the Escola de Musica Villa-Lobos in Rio de Janeiro. After completing his studies he was taught by Odair Assad. Next step was Spain the land of the guitar by excellence. Despite his classical background Rogério Bicudo is a dedicated composer and performer of samba, choro and other rhythms of the rich Brazilian popular music, choro is a virtuoso music genre from Rio de Janeiro .He lives in Amsterdam and Rio de Janeiro, influences of both worlds can be heard in his music. With jazzy swinging sounds and rhythms, without losing traditional values. Rogério Bicudo invites you to take a dive into the intimacy of a unique and very special musical universe!
