Fashion
This mapping concentrates on the Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo region taking into consideration Brazil’s size, diversity, and other important aspects. These two cities are considered to be the most influential cities in Brazil when it comes to fashion. In these cities the main trends are discovered and transferred into wearable fashion. Although other capitals and regions of Brazil are also very important for Brazilian fashion, many of them are still greatly under the influences of Rio and São Paulo lifestyles.
The growing recognition of Brazilian fashion designers as well as appreciation of the Brazilian life-style (sports, beach, etc.), has been of great value to Brazilian fashion in the last couple of years. All these factors have contributed to the formation of a new Brazilian fashion identity and the strengthening of Brazil’s positive image abroad.
Today, fashion in Brazil is not only restricted to commerce. Culture, technology, and education in Brazil have turned to the fashion industry. Increasingly, associations and partnerships between companies, educational institutions, professionals, artisans and low income communities determine Brazilian contemporary fashion. Globalization and the macro-trends in the international scene are drafting a new map of Brazilian fashion in the third millennium.
